A commercial calendar usually tells you when each holiday is. For a campaign, what matters more is when people start searching. For every commercial moment of 2027 in Greece, we looked at five years of Google searches: when interest starts, when it peaks, and how much of it happens before the day.
A useful quirk: 2027 runs on exactly the same calendar as 2021. Both years start on a Friday, neither is a leap year, and both have Orthodox Easter on 2 May.

| Cyber Monday | Mon 29 Nov | — | — | About 43 times less interest than Black Friday (2025) |
| Christmas (gifts) | Sat 25 Dec | Above 25%: mid-November · Above 50%: late November – early December | Around 15–20 Dec | More than 90% of the interest comes before 25 Dec |
The 2027 windows come from applying the ranges measured in 2021–2025 to the 2027 dates. They are an estimate, not a Google forecast.
If you sell into Greece from abroad
Three things differ from a UK or Western European calendar:
- Easter is 35 days later. Greek Orthodox Easter is on 2 May 2027; Western Easter is on 28 March. A campaign timed for Western Easter would end just as Greek interest passes half of its peak (27 March – 3 April), 20 days before the Greek peak on 17 April.
- Mother’s Day is in May. Greece celebrates it on the second Sunday of May (9 May 2027), not on Mothering Sunday (7 March 2027 in the UK).
- There are only two sales periods. Winter and summer sales have fixed legal start dates, and the May and November mid-season sales no longer exist.
For the UK dates and search timing, see our UK e-commerce calendar 2027.
Which months have the most interest in online shopping
As a proxy for online shopping in Greece, we looked at searches for “skroutz”, a major Greek price-comparison platform. Each month is compared with an average month, before covid (2016–2019) and after (2022–2025):
November (+22%) and December (+21%) are the strongest months in both periods, and they came first in every year from 2016 to 2024. January follows (+7% to +8%), the month the winter sales start. The weakest month is June (−10% to −14%).
A plain monthly average for 2021–2025 puts January first, but it is misleading. Google searches for “skroutz” fell to about a third between 2020 and 2025, so the first month of each year tends to come out higher. On top of that, early 2021 was under lockdown.
Orthodox Easter 2027: Sunday 2 May
Searches for Easter candles (λαμπάδες, a Greek Easter tradition) follow a very steady pattern. They peak 15 days before Easter in 4 of 5 years; in 2021, a lockdown year, they peaked 21 days before. They pass 50% of the peak 29–36 days before, and 99% of the interest comes before Easter Sunday.
For 2027: interest starts rising in early March, passes 50% around 27 March – 3 April and peaks on Sat 17 Apr. Clean Monday is on 15 March.
Mother’s Day 2027: Sunday 9 May
Searches peak on the day in 5 of 5 years. They pass 25% of the peak only 0–2 days before (2023 was the exception, at 8 days). In 2027 the day falls just 7 days after Easter, as in 2021, so Easter and Mother’s Day are a week apart.
Valentine’s Day (Sun 14 Feb) and Father’s Day (Sun 20 Jun)
Both peak on the day in 5 of 5 years, with a sharp rise over the last 1–2 days. They are last-minute holidays.
Sales periods 2027
Winter: Monday 11 January – end of February. Summer: Monday 12 July – end of August. Both start on the second Monday of the month under Law 4177/2013, as amended by Law 4965/2022, which abolished the May and November mid-season sales. Searches for winter and summer sales usually peak before the start, from a few days to three weeks. These terms have low daily volume, though, so the range is indicative.
Back to school
Greek schools start on 11 September, or the next working day. In 2027 the 11th is a Saturday, so classes will most likely start on Monday 13 September; the Ministry of Education confirms it each year (in 2021, the last time the 11th fell on a Saturday, schools opened on Monday 13 September). Searches for school bags and supplies peak 9–19 days before 11 September, so 23 August – 2 September in 2027. They pass 50% of the peak from 9–18 August, and 91–93% of the interest comes before 11 September.
Black Friday 2027: Friday 26 November
Only about 9–10% of the season’s interest falls on the Friday itself, while 80–83% comes before it. Since 2023, interest has passed 10% of the peak from 1 November. The Saturday after keeps 33–45% of the Friday. Cyber Monday (29 November) had about 43 times less interest in 2025.
Christmas 2027
Searches for Christmas gifts pass 25% of the peak in mid-November and 50% from late November to early December, a few days after Black Friday. They peak around 15–20 December, and more than 90% of the interest comes before the 25th.

Methodology
- Source: Google Trends, Greece, daily data. For each year 2021–2025 we took a window around the date and measured: the first day above 10%, 25% and 50% of the peak, the peak day, and the share of interest before the day. Pulled on 31/10/2026, and again from scratch on 1/11/2026 as a check.
- Google Trends builds its figures from a sample of searches, so two pulls never return exactly the same numbers. Where the two pulls differed, we give a range that holds for both.
- For low-volume terms (Christmas gifts, sales) many days are 0, and a single day can cross 25% or 50% on its own. For Christmas we therefore measured on a 7-day average and on weekly data, and give a window rather than an exact date.
- Terms (Greek, with and without accents): Easter candles; Mother’s Day / gift for mum; Father’s Day / gift for dad; Valentine’s Day / Valentine’s gifts; school bags / school supplies; Christmas gifts; black friday; winter / summer sales.
- Busiest months: the term “skroutz”, monthly data 2016–2025 (pulled 1/11/2026). For each month we took its value as a share of the centred 12-month moving average around it (a seasonal index), so the long-term fall in searches does not count. With a second method (a log-linear trend per period) November and December come out at +22% to +24% and January at +4% to +9%; the order of the months does not change. Months without a full 12 months around them (H1 2016, H2 2025) are left out; 2020–2021 belong to neither period.
- Google Trends gives a relative index (0–100), not a number of searches or sales.
- The holiday terms also include searches for greetings, not only for purchases, so a peak “on the day” refers to total interest.
- Dates: sales under Law 4177/2013 as amended; Orthodox Easter with Meeus’ algorithm; Mother’s Day on the second Sunday of May; Father’s Day on the third Sunday of June; Black Friday the day after the fourth Thursday of November.
